You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with members of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, gaining valuable insights and experience from seasoned professionals. Camp Details

  • Dates: July 21-25, 2025 
  • Time: 10AM - 3PM (Daily)
  • Location: 4747 Heatherdowns Blvd.
  • Please note: Lunch is not provided, so please plan accordingly. 
  • Final Concert: July 26 at 3PM, call time 1PM, followed by a reception! 
  • Tuition: $300 for the entire week

Eligibility

  • Grades: 9-12 (High school graduates are welcome; younger students may be considered upon request) 
  • Instrument: Students must have their own instrument (TAPA provides drum kits on-site). 
  • Music Reading: All students must be able to read music. 
  • Suggested Experience: 1-2 years of playing in a band or jazz program. 
  • Audition Requirements: Further instructions below.
  • Students may be accepted as a beginner student to observe and participate in theory class and seminars. 

Audition Requirements

To be considered for admission, students must submit a video recording via YouTube that includes one or both of the following

  1. Improvised Solo: Perform an improvised solo over the chord changes of a jazz composition or an American songbook standard. The accompaniment can be live or a pre-recorded track. 

  2. Unaccompanied Solo: Perform an unaccompanied solo from a written source, preferably in the jazz idiom. This can include a jazz etude, a solo transcription, or an ensemble part. If jazz material is unavailable, solos from other genres will be accepted. 

After recording the video (audio recordings not accepted), please upload to YouTube and email the link to elee@artstoledo.com. Email must include your full name, years of experience, and school that you are attending. Video must be unlisted or public. A decision will be communicated to you after we review your video submission. All students will be considered and accepted but may be placed in a listening group.
