Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts to Present Ben Folds’ “Paper Airplane Request Tour” on June 27, 2024

Published Wednesday, March 6, 2024

Toledo, OH - The Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is excited to announce that Emmy-nominated, multi-platinum selling musician, and songwriter Ben Folds will be taking the stage at the historic Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle Theater on June 27, 2024 as part of his "Paper Airplane Request Tour."

What initially began years ago as a request for songs as encores will once again be a central element in Folds’ shows when he engages audiences to make their song requests via paper airplanes.

“The last time I did this on tour the response was overwhelming, with literally hundreds of paper airplanes with song requests being launched on cue from fans at the start of the second half of each of my concerts,” said Folds. “It’s the purest, most low-tech form of engagement that creates a special bond with my audiences.”

Folds is known for his distinctive blend of rock, pop, and classical music, and his live performances are revered for their energy and audience engagement. The "Paper Airplane Request Tour" is a unique and interactive experience, where audience members are encouraged to write song requests on paper airplanes and send them flying to the stage. Folds will then select songs from the paper airplanes and perform them live, making each show a one-of-a-kind musical experience.

"We are thrilled to bring Ben Folds and his 'Paper Airplane Request Tour' to the Peristyle," said Vanessa Gardner, TAPA Vice President of Marketing and Operations. "This promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and community connection, and we can't wait to see what the audience has in store for Ben!"

This performance is a part of the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts' ongoing commitment to bringing world-class live entertainment to the Toledo community. Although the Toledo Symphony will not be performing at this event, TAPA saw this as an opportunity to highlight a talented performer and provide a diverse range of entertainment for the community to enjoy.
