TSSM Cello Faculty Member
Overview:
The Toledo Symphony School of Music serves as a place to educate the entire family in a student-centered, professional environment. Our faculty members are highly qualified educators and performers, many of whom have undergone special training to work with musicians as young as three years old. The personality and talent of our teachers, along with the commitment to develop the entire child, is what makes our organization special. Suzuki training is not a pre-requisite, but is welcome, as we have a strong Suzuki program within our string and piano departments.
Success in this position will be marked by an increase in cello studio enrollment and participation in school events.
The Cello Faculty Member will work closely with the Education Manager, the Community Engagement Manager, and TSSM Faculty members.
Compensation:
The starting rate is $42+/hr. Commensurate with experience.
Please note that this is a part-time position, beginning at between 2-4 hours per week pending number of students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage a private cello studio at the Toledo Center for Live Arts: schedule and teach weekly private lessons
- Teach group classes (as agreed upon in conjunction with TSSM cello faculty)
- Attend faculty meetings as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
Expectations:
- Attend school events as you are able (give notice if you are unable to attend)
- Respond timely to requests (such as paperwork, recital repertoire, etc.)
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with parents and colleagues
- Present the TSSM and TAPA in a professional manner
- Work as a team with other TSSM faculty and TSO musicians to provide a supportive environment for students, parents, and faculty
- Prepare students and parents for participation in TSSM recitals and activities
- Keep accurate track of all lessons taught including excused and unexcused absences and make-ups, and be able to submit records in a timely manner
- Thoughtfully consider innovative programs to offer the community that will foster understanding and appreciation of our organization and the work we do.
